Leak Tight Flange and Gasket assembly for Instrumentation / Power Cables for Chemical and Radiochemical Facility


Leak tight flange and gasket assembly finds diverse uses especially in vacuum applications, nuclear plants and chemical plants where radioactive or hazardous materials are handled remotely. The flange assembly facilitates routing of bunch of data cables or power cables across protective containment walls vide embedment ensuring leak tightness without any sealant, which enables replacement of single or multiple cable(s) or the gasket without spread of contamination and without the need for plant shut down for long time

    SPECIAL FEATURES OF LEAK TIGHT FLANGE & GASKET ASSEMBLY
  1. Leak tightness achieved without the use of sealant adhesive.
  2. Helium leak tested using spray method for vacuum application and the leak rate observed was 2.0x10-8 mbar l/s.
  3. Helium leak tested using sniffer technique at 1 Bar.
  4. Suitable for routing bunch of cables without leak.
  5. Minimum bolt force required for achieving the required sealing.
  6. Reduction of frictional force between flange and gasket.
  7. Minimum strain in unwanted direction.
  8. Channelizing the applied force on the intended area efficiently hence better sealing.
  9. Effective transfer of applied force over the cable surface and easy retrieval of gasket.

ABOUT THE TECHNOLOGY

Leak tight flange and gasket can be used in nuclear plants and chemical plants where radioactive or hazardous materials are being handled. It will enable routing of bunch of data cables or power cables vide CS/SS pipes embedded in the walls of concrete or steel containments for the instruments /equipment placed inside ensuring leak tightness is achievable without any sealant, which enables replacement of any single or multiple cable(s) within a short time. A specially designed gasket would hold the cables air tight, preventing the spread of hazardous air outside. The gasket is so designed that the axial force applied would be converted into radial force which would act on the cable surface and make the joint air tight. The sealing is achievable without the use of sealant. Replacement of a single or multiple cable(s) shall be achievable with minimum man hour operation.
