WORKING PRINCIPLE

ICAPPS-10 utilities a Tesla coil principle for plasma generation. The working principle is broken down in the following key steps:

  1. High Frequency Power Generation: A high-frequency (10 MHz) alternating current (AC) signal is generated by an oscillator circuit. This signal is amplified by a power amplifier to reach the required voltage for plasma formation.
  2. Tesla Coil Resonance and High Voltage: The amplified AC signal is fed to a Tesla coil, which acts as a resonant transformer. The specific design of the Tesla coil, with its primary and secondary windings, creates a high-voltage, low-current output at the secondary coil.
  3. Gas Discharge and Plasma Formation: The high-voltage output from the Tesla coil ionizes incoming gas at the jet nozzle creating a cold plasma.
