Micro-flow Processor for Microarrays & Membranes

Hybridization is a routinely used method in molecular biology laboratories. This procedure involves the treatment of a substrate, generally a membrane or a glass slide with different buffers and biochemical reagents. The whole process involves about 12 to 15 steps and takes about three to four hours based on the protocol. The Micro-flow Processor is controlled through a PC and permits the user to configure the various steps in post-hybridization treatment. This implementation has the advantages of improved repeatability across experiments and at the same time processing can be carried out by individuals with minimum technical knowledge. It can also be used in processes that require the controlled and calibrated flow of multiple reagents in the sub-milliliter range.

ADVANTAGES

  • Programmable Parameters:

    1. Selection between two reaction chambers / sample holders.
    2. Selection of any one of the eight reagents for pumping through the reaction chamber.
    3. Flow-rate control in the range of ~10 to 40 µl per second.
  • User interface for defining a sequence of steps defining the above parameters (i.e., reagent selection, flow-rate / flow-volume and set temperature).
  • The temperature of two reagents can be maintained from 40 to 60 (+/- 0.5) ° C.
  • The system interfaces to a PC through or serial port.

APPLICATIONS

  • Post hybridization Processing of microarray and other membranes.
  • It can also be used in processes that require the controlled and calibrated flow of multiple reagents in the sub-milliliter range.
